Corte Madera
While Corte Madera is known as a hub for
some of Marin County’s best shopping, it is also home
to some of Marin’s best weather. Just over a ridge from Mill Valley,
it is protected from the occasional fog and far enough south to avoid the north
county’s summer heat. Many of its more desirable homes are tucked away along
quiet, tree-lined streets or high on the spurs of Mt. Tamalpais.
Incorporated in 1916, the Town extends from San Francisco Bay
on the east side of Highway 101 to Mt.
Tamalpais on the west. Like
Sausalito to
the south, Corte Madera is another small town of nearly 9,425 residents. Bathed
in near-perpetual sunshine, it’s close to the moderating waters of the Bay, and
never gets too hot or too cold.
The Town has an easy, casual lifestyle, with
lots of open space, a bird sanctuary, and a large central park. Occupying
opposite sides of Highway 101 you’ll find two of the county’s finest shopping
venues, The Village and the Corte
Madera Town
Center.
