Novato
Novato is the most northern town of Marin County
and is the largest with 28 square miles of area, including an enormous amount
of open space. And along with the open space is a dwindling amount of buildable
space, being one of the only areas where a substantial amount of new
construction occurs (by Marin
County standards). Old Town
has shops and buildings constructed in the early 1900s and a pleasant strolling
main street. Vintage Oaks shopping center provides a huge shopping area of
general and specialty stores for all Marinites, including Target and Costco.
Novato is well situated for exploring the north
bay: north on Highway 101 leads to the Sonoma
wine region, while the Napa
Valley lies to the east.
Heading west from town you can easily find your way out to the Point Reyes
National Seashore and the Pacific Ocean.
Being the farthest north from San Francisco, Novato offers the most
home for the dollar. If the distance doesn’t bother or affect you, homes and
lots are generally larger and newer than in other towns. Different subdivisions
offer a variety of price ranges. Homes feature bay views, views of Mt. Burdell
or open space.
