Tiburon

In a county of affluent communities, Tiburon ranks as one of Marin’s most affluent. Occupying most of the Tiburon Peninsula, a spectacular, jutting finger of land, it reaches into the Bay and nearly touches Angel Island. The original homes were built along Tiburon Boulevard, while in the past few decades the once bare and pristine ridges above have been populated by some truly grand residences of all sizes and styles, most with spectacular views of San Francisco, Sausalito and Mt. Tamalpais.  The actual town of Tiburon is at the end of the peninsula, and has gone to great lengths to preserve the old maritime feel along with the town's beautifully restored buildings along Main Street and Ark Row.

The city's name comes from the Spanish word Tiburón, which means "shark." Once a fishing village and later the terminus of the Northwestern Pacific Railroad with a large railroad yard, you can also catch the ferry to Angel Island, for long walks, picnics, or bicycle rides.
